Default Possible noob question

How do i know one skin from another????

I know this may well be a noob question, but it is something I have never bothered about until I saw huge price fluctuations in Ventari's for various skins.

So i wanna know how to tell the difference.

The skin is how a weapon, focii, shield, etc "look" - like the different looks to various bow's.. these are the "skins" of the bows.

To look at the different skins you can either look at screenshots of the different weapon's. Going through the Screenshot Exposition forum can be handy for finding pic's of skins of stuff.

.. etc and so on.

Or you could check out the weapon/focii/etc images posted on another website:

http://tel.eohjay.net/

That has a huge colllection showing you what the different skins look like on different weapon's.

The other way to look at what the different skins is.. is to equip the item and either look in the inventory window or go into a mission/explorable area and look what it look's like there.

But unless your lucky enough to get them dropped or rich enough to buy them... your best bet is either our screenshot forum or the eohjay website

Skins are just the way something appears. For example, most collector's bows look identical while having varied stats. One would say they have the same skin, despite being different bows (such as short, flat, long, horn, etc). On the other hand, two bows might have identical stats and bow-types, but look completely different. They have different "skins." An example of this is the Eternal Bow. While for all intents and purposes it is nothing but a Composite Bow; however, it looks like a ghostly longbow. This difference of skin would make an Eternal Bow and Composite Bow of identical stats have wildly different prices. Who wouldn't rather have a cool looking item that functions just as well as a not-so-cool looking one? Of course, some people care far more about appearances than functionality. Some of the rarest and best looking skins will go for huge sums of gold despite being less than perfect (I'd be willing to bet the Sickle is one of them).

I don't know if there's a list for the different names given to skin appearances, but I think it's just as easy to start looking at pics of different items you're curious about.
